Rover Mini Cooper Sport
Hands up who had an original Mini? Hands up those who loved it. Most of us of a certain vintage had one in our early driving days. I had one and despite holes in the floor and the headlamps kept on with gaffer tape I loved it and it looked after me longer than it should have.
MINI COOPER SPORT or What made Britain great!
We all know life began in 1959 and lasted until 2000/2001 and the mini ingrained itself into British culture. If we didn’t have one, someone else in the family did. Were they perfect reliable cars? Perhaps not but provided they hadn’t disintegrated by corrosion we bodged and repaired them until we couldn’t; there was an endless supply of donor parts from the local scrap yard, and they were very easy to mend.
The Mini Cooper Sport was the final incarnation of the Mini classic and was fitted out accordingly. In addition to the 1.3 injected engine the specification included full leather trim in black and grey, 13 inch Minilite alloy wheels, Sportspack wheel arches, rally fog and spot lamps, Magnolia faced dials and chrome bezels set off by an engine turned dash. Available in just four colours ours is Solar Red.
